Boy: Tales from Childhood
I decided to listen to this delightful little memoir thanks to a glowing recommendation from my favorite book blog, Vintage Kids’ Books My Kid Loves. Andrew Sachs gives such a fantastic performance that it’s easy to imagine that Roald himself is telling his quaint and entertaining stories, which range from charming to funny to horrifying and remind me quite a bit of my own beloved grandfather’s wild tales of youth. James and the Giant Peach easily makes my top 100 list of stellar books, and who could fail to be captivated by the book and original film version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? As an added bonus, you’ll find out all about the shocking significance of sweet shops to his life.
