Fix-It and Forget-It: Feasting with your Slow Cooker

Fix-It and Forget-It: Feasting with Your Slow CookerI am a big fan of slow cooker recipes. Using a slow cooker is so easy. You
prepare your meat and vegetables, put them into the pot and (depending on the temperature you use) six to eight hours  later your food is done. The meat comes out so tender and flavorful. It is wonderful to set it up in the morning, go shopping and come home to a hot meal. One of the recipes I have cooked many times came from my sister. Black Bean and smoked turkey soup is great.

My favorite cookbook for the slow cooker is,  Fix-It and Forget-It Cookbook,  by Dawn J. Ranck and Phyllis Pellman Good. This book was also one of three cookbooks featured in an Publishers Weekly (8/31/09) article by Lynn Andriani,  As Slow Cookers Evolve, So Do Cookbooks.  It is a collection of over 800 recipes. I have used it for several years.  Some of my favorites are Frances’ Roast Chicken, Slow-cooker Beef Sandwiches and Easy Dinner Surprise. All were delicious. With a few basic ingredients you can cook up a great tasting meal.

My husband checked this one out of the library a few months ago. I thought the recipes looked great (as long as he was in charge of preparing them, of course) and meant to buy it, but forgot. Thanks so much for reminding me and recommending your favorites!
