Mists of Avalon
I have been obsessed with the Arthurian legend since I was little. I have read countless different versions and seen as many movie interpretations. Mists of Avalon intrigued me since it was from a female point of view, one I hadn’t seen before. The movie was beautifully done with a great cast and even better soundtrack. I was delighted to see one of my favorite actresses (Julian Marguelis) playing my favorite female character in the legend - Morgan le Fay. Intrigued by the movie I ran out and bought the bestseller that it was based on. I was not disappointed. Marion’s storytelling is perfect. I was drawn in to the characters’ lives and feelings. The narrator was Morgaine (Morgan le Fay) so I was delighted to have her viewpoint of the Arthurian
legend. The book also tells the story of Arthur’s mother, aunt, and his wife. In other versions I felt the female characters were never strongly portrayed, but Marion has successfully accomplished that. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the Avalon series. Hopefully they are as well written as the first.

Thanks for the thoughtful review!
I’m enjoying reading period pieces. It’s interesting how a movie can color your inner-reader, when you see a movie first then read the book.
I’ve not seen or read this. Which would you recommend first?
