Where the Wild Things Are
This review isn’t about the classic children’s book from 1963, but rather the movie based on the book. I recently saw the much anticipated movie about a lonely and rebellious child that escapes to an island inhabited by monsters. The movie is close to two hours long, but the book takes about ten minutes to read, so expect it to drag on in certain parts . I’m not going to say children shouldn’t see the movie, because I’m sure parents know what their children can handle; I must admit for a seven or eight year old, the monsters could be pretty scary looking. (especially since of one of the voices of the monsters is James Gandolfini !!!) The movie really brings the book alive and makes you want to run out the theater, leave your worries behind, and travel to this monster island. The movie has a lot of emotions and feelings associated with it that can touch the hearts of kids and adults. Go see this movie with your child, they will probably want to read the book afterward, which can snowball into them reading other things. (Crazier things have happened!!!)

I’ve heard nothing but good things about it, and it’s a book I loved as a child. I’ll see it this week.
