The Wrecker
The story is set in the early 1900s. Trains were an important part of transportation around the country. Isaac Bell, the main character, is a detective who is driven by his sense of justice. He and the others at the Van Dorn dective agency made a good team. They are tasked with finding the person or persons who are destroying trains around the country. The owner of the South Pacific Company and his daughter are anxious to have this “Wrecker” stopped. They are very close to losing everything if they don’t complete the construction of the line from San Francisco to Northern California. The description of the times and mood of the country was interesting and informative.
I listened to the CD of the book while on a road trip. The characters and plot held my interest from start to finish. It kept me alert and made my long drive feel alot shorter.
