Peter Pan
Here’s a classic that I’d never felt compelled to read before, likely due to my ambivalence towards the popular film adaptations of it. Expecting to be simply mildly entertained on my commute via the audio version, I was, in fact, enthralled. Like so many other famous texts, I discovered that Peter Pan is not the least bit overrated, and I highly recommend it for any age. While I did have difficulty trying to imagine the characters as originally written rather than in their familiar animated forms, the complexity and power of the often humorous writing helps to overcome this challenge. There’s plenty for adults to enjoy—even for those unfortunates who typically snub reading children’s books—and it leaves a lovely afterimage of magical adventure that lingers indefinitely.

Hooray for Peter Pan!
Yup, it’s great to discover that it’s much more complex and fulfilling that it would seem at first, isn’t it? The most different from Disney is Hook. He’s not a bumbling fool. And yes, you can sort of argue that it’s meant for adults. But that’s the beauty of it - you get such different views of it at different ages. Yea Barrie.

Thanks so much for commenting and recommending Peter Pan’s NeverWorld. Did you by any chance see the 2003 Peter Pan film? If so, do you think it’s a good one to watch?
I have seen it. It’s the best Peter Pan movie ever. (But then, it’s the ONLY Peter Pan movie [not including cartoons or the silent one.) It’s not perfect… like, parts are a little ‘OOOOOOKaaaay’ … But Sumpter as Pan is incredibly good… and Isaacs makes the best Hook. So… um… yah.
Oh… another cool book:
Hook & Jill
It’s a “what if” of Wendy choosing another path…
but it’s not for kids!
Great, thanks!!
